Movie Maker Instructions for Windows

Movie Maker Instructions for Windows       MARCHEL 2016 WINTER PROJECT – DUE: 1/3/17

  • Find your favorite Christmas song that is no longer than 3 minutes if possible and one that would have good results for searched images.
  • Download or save that song to a file. You can rip a song from a CD or take one from ITunes.
  • Also, download the lyrics, from your song choice, because this will allow you to be able to find suitable pictures from Google or Bing images. Read over your lyrics and identify what type of pictures you want as well. Pictures need to fit the words.
  • Find all of your pictures and copy them into a file. Use the highest pixel that is possible for that image. Some may have to be opened and saved into My Pictures. You may have two places that you will then import your pictures from when you are ready to put into your movie.
  • Open up Windows Moviemaker.
  • Look at section 1. Import your Audio/Music. Once you have imported then click on and hold and move onto the Audio/Music track at the bottom. Listen to your music and check your length in the upper right black movie preview box.
  • Next, import your pictures from your files into Windows Moviemaker.
  • Now you are ready to move pictures down into the Video track section. You can adjust how long a picture is seen by moving the slider over the picture in the track. A little red arrow will appear as well as the title of the picture. Move slider left to shorten and right to lengthen how long the picture appears. You will do this with all of the pictures on the video track so that the picture and words match.
  • Now preview your movie in the preview box, watch and edit as necessary.
  • Once you have all of your pictures and music as you like it then you can add video effects.
  • You will drag an effect down onto each slide that you want changed in the video track section. I.E. if you wanted all to appear black and white then you would change each slide with the gray scale effect.
  • Make sure that you add a credits page at the end to cite your source for pictures, title of music piece as well as artist.
  • When down preview.
  • If all is as you like – then go to FINISH MOVIE
  • FINISH MOVIE : Save to computer, My Videos – click through menu
  • FINISH
  • Now put onto your jump drive and you are ready to share.
